Speaking on Tuesday, April 28 at the NAC Headquarters in Lilongwe when the Board first met members of staff, the Chairman urged the employees to continue working hard and to remain committed to the fight against HIV and AIDS.

“I am a technical person. I focus on results. So I urge each one of us to do our work and focus our efforts towards the communities most in need of HIV and AIDS projects,

“I further urge you to continue working hard so that together with our implementing partners we can reduce the incidence of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections that fuel new HIV infections; help to improve the quality of life of those affected and infected by HIV and AIDS; and mitigate the impact of HIV and AIDS on the Malawian Society,” said Paramount Chief Kyungu.

The Chairman further advised members of staff to love and respect one another, and also to be God fearing.

“On behalf of my fellow Commissioners and indeed on my own behalf, I would like to pledge our commitment that we will execute our responsibility of diligently and lawfully providing oversight to the implementation of the National HIV and AIDS Response,” he added.

The Chairperson then advised his fellow Commissioners to be impartial and objective as they provide oversight and leadership to the Secretariat and the National HIV and AIDS Response.

Paramount Chief Kyungu thanked President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika and his government for entrusting him and the Commissioners with the responsibility of providing oversight to the implementation of the National HIV and AIDS Response.

In his remarks, the Acting Executive Director for NAC, Mr Davie Kalomba, thanked the Board Chairman for the words of encouragement and also promised the newly appointed Commissioners that staff will always work with commitment under the guidance of the Board.

The new Board is expected to serve for a period of three years.
