December 1

World AIDS Day is observed annually on December 1st, this is a global initiative dedicated to raising awareness about the HIV/AIDS pandemic, commemorating those who have lost their lives to AIDS-related illnesses, and showing support for people living with HIV/AIDS. The event was established in 1988, World AIDS Day serves as an opportunity to unite communities worldwide in the fight against HIV/AIDS, to challenge stigma and discrimination, and to advocate for access to treatment, prevention, and support services. Through educational campaigns, fundraising events, and public health initiatives, World AIDS Day aims to empower individuals, encourage dialogue, and promote actions that contribute to ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic. The Malawi National AIDS Commission supports this event annually and is commemorated at a select location each year anywhere in the country.
