
The Malawi’s first National Public Health Research Dissemination Conference has started today at Bingu International Convention Centre in the Malawi’s capital city Lilongwe. The Conference will run from today 29th to Friday 31st October 2025 and has brough together over 300 researchers to share groundbreaking findings aimed at building resilient and sustainable health systems. The conference has been organized by the Public Health Institute of Malawi (PHIM) in partnership with the National AIDS Commission (NAC) and Clinical Research Education and Management Services (CREAMS) under the theme: “Advancing Public Health Research for Building Resilient and Sustainable Systems.”
The conference is a multidisciplinary, international platform aimed at fostering dialogue among the public, scientific community, civil society, government, and the private sector to advance a healthier future, particularly in resource-limited settings.
The conference’s objectives include Driving positive change in public health through collaborative research and knowledge sharing, bringing together multidisciplinary stakeholders for health dialogue, promoting the translation of research findings into improved practice and bridging the knowledge gap between scientists and the general public. In addition, the conference aims to strengthening local research collaborations, promoting a One Health approach to tackling global health challenges, supporting science-driven approaches to local health development in Malawi as well as encouraging the development of innovative solutions to address pressing health issues
Furthermore, the conference covers the thematic Areas as stipulated in the National Health Research Agenda 2023-2030 such as Emerging and endemic Infectious Diseases, Non- communicable diseases, HIV and AIDS, Maternal, newborn and child health, Health system, Social and behavioral sciences, Neglected tropical diseases, Trauma and emergency medicine, ,Environmental health, Sexual and reproductive health ,Mental health, ,Emerging technologies in health and Health and climate Change.
The conference activities include speeches, oral and poster presentations, panel discussions as well as award presentations.
