A two-day meeting themed: Strengthening Civil Society Engagement in PrEP scale up -Introducing Lenacapavir in Malawi is currently underway at Crossroad Hotel in Lilongwe. The meeting has brought together officials from the UNAIDS, National AIDS Commission (NAC) and Malawi Network of AIDS Service Organizations (MANASO).

Meanwhile, Civil society organizations have been challenged to continue raising awareness to generate demand for new HIV prevention options including Lenacapavir among key populations, adolescent girls and young women.

A representative of the United States Government, Miss Virginia Thonyiwa reaffirmed that the United States of America is set to support Malawi in the procurement of the new HIV preventive Lenacapavir drugs for Malawi for the next three years. NAC through the Acting Director of Programs, D.  Andrina Mwansambo says it remains committed to ensuring demand for this innovation is well publicized and coordinated, emphasizing on combination prevention rather than solo promotion of intervention.
